Georgia’s Own Elijah Holyfield Arrested on Drug Charges
Early this morning, Former Boxer, Evander Holyfield’s son, and UGA’s 4th string running back, Elijah Holyfield was arrested on charges of marijuana possession. Police searched Elijah’s room and found marijuana remains on the floor along with drug paraphernalia. He was later taken in custody and booked at 3:19am and released later on a $4,050 bond. This may come as a surprise to many due to the fact that Elijah had a great spring practice and a pretty decent stat line during Georgia’s G- Day Game on April 22nd where he carried the ball 15 times for 49 yards and a touchdown. Georgia’s drug and alcohol policy holds a 1 game suspension for athletes that are arrested on these types of misdemeanors, which looks to be what Elijah will be facing come September 2nd when Georgia opens up their 2017 season against Appalachian State. Hopefully Elijah learns his lesson and this doesn’t occur again. We need all the running backs we can in order to have a successful 2017 season.
