Atlanta United FC wins 8th Straight Home Match behind Josef Martinez’s Hat Trick
Following a 3-0 victory on Sunday against FC Dallas, Atlanta United looked to continue their hot scoring streak when New England Revolution came to town.
From the second the first whistle blew, Atlanta United had scoring on their mind! Not even 2 minutes in, Josef Martinez found the back of the goal after receiving a beautiful through ball that allowed him to create separation with his defender and ultimately putting Atlanta up 1-0. With Josef starting off so well, the New England Revolution got into some trouble after their midfielder, Xavier Kouassi and defender, Antonio Mlinar Delaney were issued red cards that put only 9 men on the field for the remainder of the match.
With the red cards being issued, Atlanta United was able to steamroll over the Revolution to a 7-0 victory, led by Josef Martinez who continued his scoring in the 31st and 39th minute giving him a hat trick, his 2nd of 2017, in only 45 minutes of play!
The balanced Atlanta attack not only allowed Josef to score, but also allowed 4 other players to make goals in the 46+2, 70th, 73rd, and 90th minute giving Atlanta United the 7-0 victory and their 8th straight home win!
With Atlanta United having 42 points and sitting 5th in the Eastern Conference, look for them to continue their great play as they take on their next opponent, Orlando City SC on Saturday, September 16th at 3:55pm.
