Desmond Trufant named NFC Defensive Player of the Week

After an injury suffered last year that placed Desmond Trufant as inactive, Trufant vowed to return to the field better and stronger than ever!

Trufant’s 1st test was Week 1 against Chicago where he preformed well with 4 solo tackles and helped Atlanta start the season off 1-0.

Trufant not content in his performance took it a step up in Week 2 against rival, Green Bay Packers and didn’t disappoint! To close out the 1st half, Rodgers threw a ball in the direction of Trufant and he, without hesitation, jumped up and secured the interception that led to a last minute TD by Atlanta. In back to back drives, Trufant took over! After a fumble by Aaron Rodgers to start the 2nd half, Trufant picked it up and ran it in for 6! Trufant ended his night with 2 total tackles, 1 pass deflection, 1 interception and a fumble recovery for a TD!

With Trufant looking like the old Trufant, many offenses will need to plan for his defensive skill set as he shuts down his defenders and makes the game 1 dimensional!

Join me in congratulating our own, Desmond Trufant on NFC Defensive Player of the Year!
