Josef Martinez continues Hot Streak as Atlanta United routs LA Galaxy 4-0
In a rescheduled match against La Galaxy from August 19th, LA came to town to face a red hot Atlanta United FC that has gone on a tear the last week. ATL got the scoring started behind goal leader, Josef Martinez, who put a cross pass in the back of the net in the 13th minute of the match.
Martinez, who has 8 goals in the last 4 matches, continues to score and give Atlanta United lead after lead. After Martinez scored the 1st goal, the flood gates opened and Yasmil Asad was able to score on back to back goals in the 16th and 20th minute to extend the lead to 3-0.
In the 30th minute, LA Galaxy players began to get irritated and a red card was issued to Jermaine Jones in the 39th minute that limited the Galaxy’s players to 10. When this occurred, Miguel Almiron struck and put a ball over the diving hands of goalie, Kempin, to increase the lead to 4-0!
In the second half, ATL refused to take their foot off the gas and held most of the possession time not allowing LA to get back into the match. With this victory, Atlanta United has yet to be beat at home and now hold a 10 match home winning/tying streak.
Atlanta United now looks ahead to the rest of their schedule this week when they face Montreal on Sunday September 24th at 5pm and Philadelphia on Wednesday September 27th at 7pm.
With Atlanta United FC sitting in 5th place in the Eastern Conference, look for them to feed off the home crowd and win much needed victories!
