The 1st of 3 awards is the Butkus Award:

Not only 1 but 2 UGA players have been named as semifinalists for this award. With senior LB Lorenzo Carter totaling up 31 tackles, 4 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 3 fumble recoveries in 8 games and junior LB Roquan Smith with 61 total tackles, 1 sack, and 1 forced fumble in 8 games, both players look to be a serious contenders to receive the award at the end of the year.

Not only was Roquan Smith named to the Butkus Award but also to the Bednarik Award that is given to the best defensive player in the Nation. With Roquan totaling up 61 tackles in 8 games and having the ability to run from sideline to sideline, gives him a clear shot at the award. if he can continue to rack up tackles in the final 4 games.

The 3rd of 3 awards is the Maxwell Award:

Senior RB Nick Chubb joined in the action when he was announced to be a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award which is given to the best all-around college football player. With Nick Chubb with 120 carries for 765 yards and 9 TD’s in 8 games, averaging 6.4 yards a carry is well deserving of being in the talks for the award. With UGA having an abundant amount of RB’s, Nick has shared the workload with not just fellow senior Sony Michel but also with sophomore Brian Herrien and freshman D’Andre Swift which has limited his carries and yards he is able to rack up.

Keep a lookout for these 3 great UGA players as the continue to preform to the best of their ability  and represent UGA on the football field.
