Instant Reaction: Hawks fall to 76ers 109-119
After having a much needed 2 days off for rest, the Hawks headed to Philadelphia to take on a 3-4 76ers team. The Hawks bringing with them a 6 game losing streak, look to snap it on Wednesday night at 7pm.
With a 7:00pm tip off, the Hawks turned to leading scorer Dennis Schroder and Taurean Prince to make a statement early but Philadelphia had other plans. The 76ers caught fire from 3 and quickly built a lead that Atlanta had some difficulty making up in the 1st quarter. Philadelphia as a team was 6-7 from 3 to end the first. Taurean Prince led the team with 6 points but also with 3 rebounds. (Atlanta 25 Philadelphia 34)
As the 2nd quarter got underway, the Hawks defense began to stiffen up causing tough shots and turnovers that led to the Hawks getting back into the game. Every time the Hawks got closer, 76ers Robert Covington would drain a 3 and limit the comeback. But Atlanta didn’t give up and went on a run to help them head into halftime 57-59 behind Dennis Schroder’s 10 points and Dwayne Dedmon’s 4 rebounds. (Atlanta 57 Philadelphia 59)
The 3rd quarter started and Dennis Schroder caught fire. In doing so, Atlanta jumped out to a 4 point lead 5 minutes into the quarter. With constant pressure, Atlanta was able to keep it tied headed into the 4th quarter. The Hawks were led by Dennis Schroder’s 20 points and Taurean Prince’s 9 rebounds. (Atlanta 93 Philadelphia 93)
The 4th quarter began and the offense for both teams went stagnant as neither were able to produce any baskets. After multiple turnovers and stiff defense the Hawks went down 100-94 with 6 minutes remaining and ultimately lost 119-109.
