In a year where the City of Atlanta finally saw a MLS team take over, Atlanta United produced a playoff caliber team in their inaugural season. Although they lost to Columbus Crew in the knockout round on penalty kicks, the team had many players make statements throughout the league. Earlier this month it was announced that Julian Gressel had won “Rookie of the Year”, the 1st of many awards for Atlanta United players.
The most recent award given out was the Newcomer of the Year” award and on Monday afternoon, Miguel Almiron became the recipient. Almiron not only became “Newcomer of the Year” but also won the cover of MLS 2018 video game.
Almiron played amazing along side teammate Josef Martinez, while appearing in 30 matches and recording 9 goals and 8 assists. With his passing skills, he was able to make a name for himself and ultimately win this award!
