BREAKING NEWS: UGA DC Mel Tucker sticks with Dawgs
Earlier this week, Mel Tucker’s name came up as a potential candidate to land the Tennessee head coaching job. On Tuesday afternoon it was announced per @Mark_Schlabach that Mel had a second interview. But as the day progressed, news continued to come out that Tennessee had also contacted and narrowed their search down to UGA’s DC Mel Tucker, Auburn’s DC Kevin Steele, and Alabama’s DC Jeremy Pruitt.
On Wednesday morning it was stated by @BruceFeldmanCFB that Jeremy Pruitt had an interview and that he is currently the strong candidate to become the coach.
Mel Tucker most known for helping Georgia land Mecole Hardman Jr, Deangelo Gibbs, Robert Beal, and Malik Herring has been a consistent recruiter the past two years for the Dawgs.
With Tennessee AD, Phillip Fulmer, wanting to finish his coaching search, it was reported that that Alabama’s DC, Jeremy Pruitt, was offered and will be the head coach of Tennessee. With @Brett_McMurphy tweeting Wednesday night…
It look as if Alabama’s DC, Jeremy Pruitt has taken the job, Georgia is able to keep ahold of Mel and continue to focus on their January 1st, Rose Bowl matchup with Oklahoma.
With an official announcement set to take place on Thursday, the Volunteers now can end their search and begin rebuilding their program.
Thank you Coach Tucker for sticking with the Dawgs! Let’s go get that Championship!
