Sam Freeman and Dan Winkler avoid arbitration with 1 year deals
By. Andrew Rodberg
On Thursday night it was announced that LHP Sam Freeman had signed a 1 year $1.075 million contract in order to avoid arbitration. Freeman appeared in 58 games with a 2-0 record and a 3.34 ERA which was better than his previous 2 seasons.
With this signing, Freeman looks to make an impact out of the bullpen with his strikeout ability.
On Friday afternoon it was also announced that RHP Dan Winkler had also avoided arbitration with a $610,000 contract. Winkler has been battling some injuries that has limited him the previous 3 seasons to only 21 appearances. Last season he appeared in 16 games, had a 1-1 record and boasted a 2.81 ERA.
With now Mike Foltynewicz and Arodys Vizcaino the final 2 pitchers without contracts, the Braves have some serious moves to make to help them avoid arbitration.
