Coach Smart’s Monday Presser ahead of Missouri 9/17

After demolishing their last 3 opponents with a combined score of 135-24, the Bulldogs are now sitting nice and pretty at a 3-0 record. With the latest AP Poll placing UGA at #2 in the nation behind Alabama, the Bulldogs look ahead to their second SEC road game against Mizzou on September 22nd at 12:00pm noon.
On Monday afternoon, Coach Smart held his weekly press conference and answered media questions. Coach Smart was asked about the injury status’ of Andrew Thomas and Terry Godwin and Coach answered by stating, “Godwin had a contusion but he was OK to practice and was good to go.” As for Andrew Thomas, he told the media “he was doing some light jogging and he hoped to see him return to practice soon.”
Coach then began to give props to Missouri In regards to their QB Drew Lock stating, “He has matured. he has a strong arm, has more confidence, and throws the ball with purpose.” Coach also praised their big and strong TE’s who could cause some issues when it comes to defensive schemes.
Coach was asked, “What are some things the team is really focusing on in preparation for Missouri?” Coach was able to give a few answers…
He said he wanted to see a more balanced offense, defensive improvements with special teams, and better kicking accuracy from their punter as it pertains to height and distance. Coach closed out with saying he was proud of how both QB’s operated and how well Elijah Holyfield performed.
