After going right through their last 6 opponents, the Dawgs now face their biggest test vs the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge, with many analysts predicting this to be their one loss of the 2018 season. With a 3:30pm kickoff, the Dawgs will look to improve to 5-0 in the conference and start their second straight year 7-0. This matchup on paper looks to be a back and forth contest so here are a few keys to victory for the Dawgs.
Come Out Swinging:
After slow starts offensively for the Dawgs, they can’t afford to wait a few series to get going. With their opponent a highly dangerous offense themselves, they must throw the ball down the field! Fromm will need to get some help from his OL in order to get time in the pocket and allow him to dissect the LSU secondary.
Get to the QB:
LSU’s QB Joe Burrow is doing just enough to keep their offense balanced, the Dawgs still need to disrupt his timing in order to make LSU one dimensional. With Burrow coming on strong the past few weeks, where he has racked up 12,215 yards 6 TD’s and 2 INT’s, they have been able to keep defenses on the ropes and get big gains in the ground game.
The true test for the Dawgs will be stopping Nick Brossette who has been the workhorse for the Tigers. With his 118 carries for 576 yards and 8 TD’s, the Dawgs need to keep him out of the end-zone. In every red-zone situation for the Tigers, they have turned to Brossette to come through in a big way and today will be no different.
Don’t Let Up:
With UGA a 73.9% favorite, the Dawgs must continue to chop wood. In all their other games this season, they haven’t really faced a even opponent but today will be one of those “grown-man” football games! If the Dawgs get up early they must continue to play and not allow LSU back in the game.
Don’t Allow the Crowd to Affect You:
With UGA going to one of the most difficult atmospheres in college football, they must drown out the noise and focus on the job at hand. As UGA knows, we are normally the fans who disturb the opponents but the roles will be reversed this afternoon. They must remember, one play at a time and have short memories if problems do occur.
Prediction: Georgia 34 LSU 24
