ATHENS, GA— In the most expensive and highly anticipated game of the year, the Dawgs take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Saturday night.Wolves. With a noon 8:00pm kickoff time, the Bulldogs have a few keys to victory:
Leadership:
With Fromm now in his 3rd year under center and D’Andre Swift leading the rushing attack, the Dawgs look for a signature, high quality win against a Top 10 team. After defeating the Irish in South Bend in 2017 (20-19 Final), in Fromm’s 1st college start, the will be focused on showing the Nation that they deserve to be in the College Football Playoff conversation. As big time games happen, one of the most important keys for victory is leadership. Leadership will play a huge part in this matchup. The team with the fewest turnovers and mistakes will ultimately win this game. With ND having difficulty stopping the run this season, look for Swift and co. to get the ball 70-80% of the time as Fromm will be asked to be a field general and lead his troops to victory.
Efficiency:
Now 3 games into the season, the Dawgs haven’t had to really rely on Fromm in order to win a game and it’s shown in his season stats. Fromm is currently 42/56 with 601 yards and 5 TD’s. With the Dawgs rushing attack in full force, Fromm will need to strategically place throws within the game plan in order to keep the Irish defense honest. UGA must make it a priority to score when given the opportunity. Whether it be a touchdown or a field goal, the Dawgs must put points on the board quickly and often. If Fromm is able to complete passes at a high rate and spread out the defense, the Dawgs should win this game pretty convincingly.
Defense:
Defense will play a big role in the outcome of this game. Like 2017, both defenses bent but didn’t break as a last minute turnover sealed the victory for the Dawgs. With UGA currently sitting at #9 in total yards allowed with 243, the Dawgs look to impose their will on a suspect ND offense. UGA has only allowed 3 total TD’s to opposing teams (1 offense, 2 defense) resulting in a 3-0 record to begin the year. With defensive players, Mark Webb and Richard Lecounte leading the way, look for some big time hits and possible turnovers coming into play.
If Georgia is able to accomplish these keys to victory, they should win
