ATHENS, GA— Coming off a Top 10 win vs Florida last week, the Dawgs return home to take on a struggling Missouri team. With Georgia coming in at #6 in the first College Football Playoff Rankings, they must continue to win games and allow the committee to do its job. With the Dawgs looking to win their 8th game of the season, they have a few keys to victory:
Start Fast:
Following an impressive game plan vs Florida, the Dawgs must remain focused. After James Coley changed up his play calling, UGA looked like the once dominant team again. Swift, Fromm and Cager need to come out with their feet on the gas determined to put points on the board. Outside runs, deep passes and smart throws will help UGA start fast and take Missouri out the game early.
Get Lawrence Cager the Ball:
Following a career day (vs Florida) where he had 7 receptions for 132 yards and 1 TD, Cager has proven to be the player Fromm has needed to keep the offense balanced. After being out with an injury earlier in the season, the Dawgs struggled to move the ball through the air (that ultimately handed the Dawgs a loss to South Carolina). If Georgia wants to continue to run up the score, they must get Cager the ball and let the run game compliment him.
Defense:
With Georgia leading the country in rush defense, which has not allowed a rushing TD to this point (only team in 20 years to not allow a rushing TD in first 8 games), they will look to keep that a trend vs the Tigers. With the Tigers averaging 184 rushing yards per game, the Dawgs will have to shut that down and make Missouri rely on Kelly Bryant’s arm (who is struggling this season). Making the Missouri rely on Kelly Bryant’s arm, could be to UGA’s favor as their cornerbacks and linebackers are athletic and have a good eye for the ball. If the Dawgs flex their muscles they will cause Bryant and the Tigers to beat themselves with mistakes.
Prediction:
Georgia 37 Missouri 13
