ATHENS, GA— The last regular season game for the Dawgs before taking on LSU in the Sec Championship, falls with a matchup vs Georgia Tech. Riding a 2 year winning streak vs the Yellow Jackets, the Dawgs must travel to Atlanta, Georgia to face a struggling GT team in Bobby Dodd Stadium. With a 12:00pm noon kickoff time, the Dawgs have a few keys for victory:
Stop the Run:
With the running game and huge part of the Yellow Jackets offense, the Dawgs defense needs to be locked in. Plugging the gaps and knowing your assignments is going to be key for the Dawgs. If everyone plays fundamental football, the Dawgs will be able to contain the run game and make Georgia Tech one-dimensional.
Feed off the Defense:
With the strong suit of the UGA team being it’s defense, the Dawgs offense must step up and show that it can back and hold up the national leading defense. As the defense stifles opposing offenses on the norm, momentum needs to be kept on the Georgia side by good play from the playmakers on offense. If the defense forces turnovers and 3 and outs, Fromm and company HAVE TO make the most of those opportunities and score at an alarming rate. With that being said, this game could get out of hand very quickly.
Run the Ball:
With the passing attack continuing to struggle to move the ball week in and week out, the run game will be the focal point of the offense once again. With a struggling GT team (3-8) the Dawgs should have a field day if the Yellow Jackets are unable to stop Swift and company. With Georgia Tech giving up an average 215 yards rushing a game, it is a must that Georgia exceed that and put this game away with fundamentally sound football.
