As Christmas draws near, the 8-2 Georgia Bulldogs took on a 7-3 Temple Owls basketball team with hopes of keeping their hot streak going.
After winning their previous game against Georgia Tech 80-59, the Dawgs came out full of fire and on a mission. In a game that was only close for the first 9 minutes, the Dawgs ran away with the game after going on a 8-0 run to push their lead to 19-9 and ultimately going into half-time with a 42-23 lead after putting Temple in foul trouble early in the half. With the 12 free throw attempts in the half, the Bulldogs didn’t look back!
With senior Yante Maten playing grown man basketball and taking everything to the rim, the Temple Owls had no response and 2 key players became fouled out with 8 minutes left. With the Dawgs sensing the game far out of reach, Yante Maten showed that he is a future All-American and ended his day with a double double.
Key Players:
Yante Maten: 30 pts, 12 rebounds, and 2 blocks
Nicolas Claxton (Career High): 14 pts, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks
Turtle Jackson: 10 pts and 4 assists
Looking Ahead:
The 9-2 Georgia Bulldogs will now open up SEC play against the Kentucky Wildcats on Dec 31st at 6:00pm
The Bulldogs will look to start off their SEC play with a victory against the #7 Kentucky Wildcats!
